The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) is dedicated to providing immediate, effective and comprehensive employment services to men and women with recent criminal convictions in New York City. Our highly structured and tightly supervised programs help participants regain the skills and confidence needed for a successful transition to a stable, productive life.
CEO began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s, seeking to test what would happen if, instead of meeting barriers to employment, people coming home from prison or jail were offered immediate, paid transitional work. CEO became an independent nonprofit in 1996. During the past 10 years, CEO has made 10,000 placements in hundreds of area businesses and non-profit organizations.
